INDOOR COURT RULES OF NOTE

  • *NEW* A player may legally contact the ball multiple times on their team's second touch if the ball is played to a teammate — meaning a "double touch" by a setter is no longer automatically a fault if it occurs within a single, quick motion.

  • A match will consist of 3 sets. All 3 sets will be played.

  • A set is won by the first team which scores 25 points (cap of 25, NOT win by 2) with rally scoring.

  • Each team may use ONE 30 second timeout per set. Unused timeouts in a set may not be carried over to the next set.

  • Teams must rotate on a side out.

  • Touching any part of the net with anything besides the ball or a player’s hair is a violation that results in the opposing team receiving a point.

  • The ball striking the ceiling or an overhead obstruction above the court shall remain in play provided the ball does not cross the net until the ball is legally played again by the same team. (Note: the basketball hoops, flag, poles, and scoreboards are outside the court and considered out).

  • A player may not enter another court, before or after contacting the ball, in pursuit of a ball. A violation will result in the opposing team receiving a point.

  • Coed teams may have no more than 3 male players on the court at a time.

  • Coed teams must alternate genders.

  • When playing with an odd number of players, the genders should alternate as much as possible.

  • The referee is instructed to make fair and equal calls during a match. Keep in mind that we are all human, however the referee's decision is final.

  • As a reminder, please be respectful to your fellow players and referee.

  • If a team fails to start play within 10 minutes of their scheduled match time OR within 5 minutes after the conclusion of the previous match (whichever occurs later), the delaying team will forfeit the first set.

  • If players are missing, teams should still begin play at their scheduled time with the players that are present. You must have at least 2 players to begin. Players may join the game once they arrive.

  • If the previous set is running late or the court is not yet available, players may stretch and pepper off court. On court warm-up will be limited to hitting
